Lion king inspired take and make

To spice up a Disney movie marathon during Winter Break at the library, we provided participants with take and make crafts. While most we pulled from the internet, the Lion King inspired projects we found were either too complicated, too big, or too simple. So here is an original take and make craft inspired by Disney's The Lion King.

Supplies:
2-5 fat quarters (buy these at Walmart or on sale for $1 each!)
1 pkg regular thin hair elastics
Fabric scissors

Making a tied-fabric scrunchie is simple. Cut your fat quarters of fabric into 1/2" strips about 3-4" long. This does not need to be exact! I used five different fabrics in coordinating colors and patterns to give it some interest. Using a regular hair elastic, tie 20-30 fabric strips in a random pattern using a simple square knot--just like tying your shoe minus the bow.

Voila! All done! You know have a lion's mane to adorn a ponytail, wrist, or ankle. 5 fat quarters made about 25 take and make packets.
